Don’t Get A Dog, Get A Business
Talk With The Video
Summary
- Owning a dog can be very expensive and time-consuming. They keep you from attending events and require frequent breaks during your day.
- Dogs have hidden costs like the time spent taking care of them and actual financial expenses, which can add up significantly.
- I once had to persuade someone to give away a dog we got because it was very demanding. It became clear that it was costing me a lot, even though it was a nice dog.
- The dog was rehomed to a good family, where it is happy, and it likely didn't miss us at all.

How To Take Action
I would suggest really thinking about what you can cut from your life to focus more on your goals. Sometimes, things we enjoy, like owning pets, can distract us and add extra costs we don’t always see at first. For a business owner or someone focusing on personal growth, using your time wisely is key.
A good way of gaining back time and money is to evaluate the true impact of your choices. Start by listing out all hidden costs and distractions in your life, like the time you spend on non-essential tasks or hobbies. Then, see what you can minimize or remove. For example, limit interruptions that break your productivity flow, like unplanned errands or unnecessary meetings.
If something is costing you more in time and money than it’s worth, see if there's a better way. Delegate tasks when possible or automate them. For example, if you have a pet that requires a lot of attention and disrupts your schedule, consider outsourcing care to professionals or even rehoming responsibly, like how I decided with the dog.
Always learn to prioritize. Keep focusing on activities that bring the most value to your growth. Simplifying your life can lead to more focus and success in both business and personal life. Remember, it’s all about making small changes that can lead to big results.
